The Darkness of Boredom Requires Daily Inspirations

Living is an endlessly creative process in which we work on achieving the life we want through our willingness to be who we would like to be… Spiritually, there is a lesson in every moment: When we are seemingly stuck in a boring routine, the miracle lies not so much in finding something else to do as in realizing how much we can do in any single moment – through the power of our own consciousness – to transform ourselves and the world around us. According to A Course in Miracles, only what we are not giving can be lacking in any situation.
Marianne Williamson

Daily inspirations are filled with precious moments of intimate experience with the higher Presence with our God. What we are missing can produce depression, anxiety, and rage – pain. We need to learn to listen to God’s voice in the sounds and words of others’ voices. Marianne Williamson has been such a voice for me over many years.

Two elements, in my experience, makes the words of others produce the most powerful daily inspirations filled with the most precious moments of God’s Presence.
1. When someone speaks from their experience, strength, and hope, rather than their knowledge, intellect, and reasoning, their words can carry a presence that transcends the thought of their words.
2. When I have a conscious clarity that I cannot grasp, understand, or control my life with my mind, something inside me opens and I begin to receive vast qualities of loving Presence.

Daily inspirations carry an energy, which exceeds the neural energies of our brains. Our intellect dwarfs in the intimate Presence of our God, and we experience awarenesses that our minds could never have produced. In the precious moments of our connection with our God, we experience changes within our perceptions and reactions. Old things become new. Damaged areas of our past begin to heal. Confusion, chaos, and conflict begin to subside, and we am deeply engulfed in a warmth which transcends matter and thought – we am reborn – over and over again -- to new and better livings.

I would encourage you to breathe deeply, and absorb the Presence in these words, and the voices of others who find you.

Love Heals-- Spiritual Healing and Spiritual Enlightenment

Love cures people, the ones who receive, and the ones that give it, too.
Karl A. Menninger

“Love” is an interesting word in our culture. People can love ice cream, clothes, movies, TV shows, vacation places – and other people. Somehow the same word does not seem to mean the same in each situation.

And yet, the impression we can get from others is that everyone knows exactly what the word means. Frequently this seems to really be a case of “missing identity.”

Dr. Menninger describes “love” as the cure for people. I agree with his statement, only I believe we have to clarify what aspect of spiritual healing “love” involves.

Perhaps a place to start is with what “illness” does humans have that needs to be “cured” – why do we need spiritual healing at all.

In my experience, all human illness is caused by separation – from God, from others, and most acutely from ourselves. The condition of humanness is one of loneliness, guilt, fear, pain, anger – and sadness. All of these symptoms are directly related and proportionate to our level of our personal separation and sense of abandonment.

So what does love do that can cure our disease of humanness? Maybe “love” is about being intimately reconnected to God, to others, and to ourselves.

My experience is that God interacts with humans by means of Presence – an unconditional availability and flow of “loving” interpersonal energy which could be the definition of “love”.

Perhaps, if we were to interact with others using unconditional attentiveness and companionship, and gifts of caringness – spiritual presence to others -- maybe we would find people who responded to this spiritual treatment, and experienced spiritual healing of their human condition. Maybe like Dr. Menninger said, we would also find ourselves experiencing spiritual healing and spiritual enlightenment as well.

Let’s try and see.

Turn on God's Love Light -- Daily Inspirations, Spiritual Healing, and Spiritual Enlightenment

Every day my eyes would automatically open as the sun began to rise. I’d lie there and not just look at the dawn, the dawn would enter me. The imprint of sunshine – of a new day following the darkness of night – made its way into my cells.
Marianne Williamson

Light – spiritual enlightenment – precious moments illuminating the darkness – experiencing daily inspirations – bursts of God’s Presence – as we spiritually awaken to spiritual healing -- from painful darkness.

I heard of a child who was chronically punished for being unacceptable by being placed in a small closet underneath the stairs. Her mother called it the “Mean Kid’s House”.

The child and her siblings would work hard and sometimes they would be given a little money. When her siblings had a chance, they would buy candy. But the child from the closet would buy candles. The candles were so she could have light in the darkness of her “Mean Kid’s House”.

Darkness is the absence of loving, caring, unconditional Presence – from others, then causing a sense of separation from God, and ultimately separating us from ourselves. Sometimes it is as physical as a closet, but more often it is a dark and sad place inside of us.

We all live or have lived in the “Mean Kid’s House”. Shame, guilt, fear, loneliness, and sadness – mental and spiritual darkness – have surrounded our existence and experience. A conditional world had abandoned us in order to avoid themselves.

Many of us created imaginary friends, selves, lives to fill the darkness with blind hope – actually temporary mental painkillers fashioned in painful desperation. Nothing changed – and we remained hopelessly damned to the empty stale and blinding silence. The only voices were the voices within our brains – and even they became progressively more and more abusive.

To escape, we must begin to find “candles” – sources of light, love and Presence. “Candy” is nice. But loving Presence begins to shatter the darkness with new inner sources of hope and healing. Our lives begin to change – spiritual enlightenment begins to burn – beginning as just a spark, and becoming radiating beams of warming Presence and spiritual healing.

Our God knows the way out. We need to find and follow Their loving Light out of our darkness and into Better Places by Their loving design and care.

The imprint of sunshine – of a new day following the darkness of night – made its way into my cells. And one morning it was as though I heard the voice of God, telling me as I witnessed the dawn that “Such is the work I will do within you.” I too would experience a new dawn after the dark night of my soul. God would give me a new beginning. I knew it then. And as I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep, I thanked Him with all my heart. And my heart was healed.
Marianne Williamson

In the darkness shall be the light, and in the stillness, the dancing.

God's Love Through Us, Through Others -- Spiritual Enlightenment Through Precious Moments

Let God love you through others, and let God love others through you.
D.M. Street

In the Bible, there is a reference to how “God became flesh and dwelt among us,” referring to Jesus. And Jesus said, “these things that I do shall you do – and greater things.” To me, these references describe the need, and the resources we as human beings have for a “flesh and blood” connection to God’s higher loving Presence – spiritual enlightenment.

The challenge with this spiritual awareness is how to get past each other’s humanness to access the spiritual Presence we all possess. Many times we are distracted by what is often referred to as “ego” -- a barrier to seeing and experiencing the God Presence within each of us.

There is a resistance that forms inside of us when we are not consciously experiencing my own humanness and weakness – and God’s Presence. In this state, a separation occurs within ourselves, and a separate protective and artificial self appears – our ego. In its protectiveness, this ego version of our selves actually sabotages our ability to experience of God’s Presence through others.

In protecting me, my “ego” actually destroys the possibility of having the intimacy and closeness that is available and present.

This ego protective self does this in two ways:
1. First it distorts what others are communicating – verbally and nonverbally – recreating the separation and abandonments of my past – in the present. My “ego” replays the “tapes” of my wounded past within my current relationships as if it is occurring right now and with this specific person. It actually creates a hallucination of perception with corresponding distorted mental reactions and reactive actions.
2. Second the ego self rejects others – in the attempt to protect me – and actually creates the separation and abandonment that it is trying to prevent.

To reverse this process, we must begin to let God love us – through others – especially letting God love our protective ego selves. As I experience consciously my ego, and turn this wounded part of me over to God’s love through others, an energy begins to flow into me – a higher spiritual Presence – an emerging spiritual enlightenment. We are able to begin reliving our past and have different outcomes.

To continue this process, we need to also begin to let our God love others through us. The energy that flows through us to others creates an equal and greater level of loving Presence for us than we have given.

Let’s receive God’s unconditional loving Presence through others, and consciously send the same loving Presence to others through ourselves. Life will never be the same – it will be a better place by Their design.

Resistance Is Futile -- Spiritual Enlightenment in Precious Moments

The chief pang of most trials is not so much the actual suffering itself as our own spirit of resistance to it.
Jean Nicholas Grou

Life is a stream of energy – experienced by our brains as an erratic and repetitive flow of neural energy:
sensation -->perception-->reaction-->action-->sensation and recycling on and on and on.

Were there no blocks or resistance to our inner flow, life would be a steady conscious stream of white light consciousness, with no thought, with no past or future, with no darkness or shadows, -- and most importantly with no suffering or pain – the ultimate in spiritual enlightenment.

Generally speaking we are only conscious of a very little of the actual suffering that is occurring inside of us. The primitive part of our brains is successfully anesthetizing our cerebral cortex with thought, and we seldom feel our deepest pains and fears.

The gift of problems –“trials” – is that they bring our suffering into conscious experience – possibilities for spiritual enlightenment. Otherwise, we would suffer our whole lives- in quiet desperation -- without ever having an opportunity to heal and become free to live within life’s precious moments.

In my experience and perception, humanness is a disease. The state of being human means that we are naturally separated and disconnected from others, then from God, resulting in final disconnectedness from ourselves. This disconnectedness causes a deficiency of intimate Presence – which is as important as air – and we resist the pain, shame, and fear – our inner storms of raging energy.

This resistance causes a constriction in the flow of Presence into our lives, and the flow of our own spiritual energies outward -- and we suffer massive amounts of sadness, loneliness, and fear – the ultimate result of resistance of anticipated outcomes, and of anticipated pain.

We need to have our inner flow of Presence restored – spiritual enlightenment -- or our human illness will continue until it physically and mentally destroys us.

My level of resistance – and constriction – and suffering is indirectly proportional to my level of conscious higher Presence – conscious intimate contact with God – my consistency of precious moments with God. To find serenity and meaning, I have to increase the frequency and volume of my conscious interaction with God – spiritual enlightenment.

Here are some ways that have worked for me:
1. I consciously remind myself – verbally, and sometimes in writing – that I cannot use my will and intellect to reduce my resistance and suffering. By myself, I am totally powerless and my perceptions are completely unmanageable.

2. I speak and talk to others – listening quietly, with minimal thinking to the energy in their words. I have experienced for over twenty years that God will speak through anyone to whom I listen to, to the extent that I have accepted my powerlessness. When I listen to other’s words, I experience an warm, nurturing energy, which I have learned to call Presence. It is not the words and thoughts themselves, but the spiritual connection that occurs when we speak and listen to each other.

3. I do something. Almost anything will do, as long as it done with the conscious intent to trust God with my inner self, and with my life’s outcomes. It works for me to consciously breathe, consciously type the next letter on my computer, feel the pressure and motion of each next step -- to conscious experience my inner resistance, and flow into each next precious moment.

The time is now to become spiritually conscious through God’s Presence and love – spiritual enlightenment -- and release our suffering to the healing heart of God.

Resistance is futile.

Love Creates Precious Moments -- Spiritual Enlightenment

Love is something that, if you give it away,
you end up having more.
Malvina Reynolds

Over the years, I have heard religious leaders advocate a spiritual “Law of Prosperity” – which generally means, in simplest terms, that we give material things away to get material things. Not necessarily a harmful thought, unless the person advocating this is wanting us to give material things to them – which seems like a possible conflict of interests.

In my experience, there is a “principle” of spiritual prosperity that could include giving of our material possessions, but is much broader in actual application. This spiritual principle involves directly influencing our quality of living -- spiritual prosperity and spiritual enlightenment -- by “giving “ to others precious moments -- of ourselves. This giving may include material things but – more importantly – gifts of our presence, care, and personal attention.

A significant portion of our world’s population suffers from the absence of adequate food. All human beings, on some level, suffer from an absence of intimate, caring presence. All human beings hunger for closeness, acceptance, companionship, and personal connection.

The best way to get our love needs met is to give love away – every chance we get. This is the truest path to precious moments and spiritual enlightenment

There are two main ways that I have experienced this working:

The first is that when we give love and presence to others, we are able to open a spiritual connection to our God that allows us to access God’s higher Presence. When two more connect in a spirit of unconditional love and caring for each other, they invite God’s Presence into their midst in amazing and wonderful ways. The whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. This is a very powerful form of spiritual enlightenment.

The second way loving others works is experienced in the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule states, “Do unto others as you would have them do to you,” because whatever we do to others, we are doing to ourselves – at the same time.

When we love -- or harm others, we receive our own love -- or harm -- no matter what the others’ responses may be. Without spiritual enlightenment, we may lack the consciousness to experience this truth. But if we observe closely and consciously, we will see and experience this truth: loving others is actually loving ourselves.

Today – one precious moment at a time --I am wishing us love and caring Presence – with God, with others – and with ourselves.

Abandon Reason for Truth -- Spiritual Enlightenment and Precious Moments

Who listens to Reason is lost:
Reason enslaves all
whose minds are not strong enough to master her.
George Bernard Shaw

As an adolescent, I idolized Mr. Spock from Star Trek. I perceived him as perfect reasoning and logic without the hindrances of human emotion. When I have rewatched episodes in recent years, I realized that somehow my mind had filtered out his very human struggle to manage reason and emotion.

In the first of the Star Trek movies, Mr. Spock secretly leaves the ship to contact this enormous consciousness and force called Vyger. His whole reason for participating in this mission was to link mentally with this entity which was pure, 100% reasoning.

While away from the ship, Mr. Spock initiates a Vulcan mind meld with the entity, and connects to the conscious mind that is pure reasoning. There is an explosion of some energy, and Mr. Spock is blow back toward the Enterprise. When he is picked up, he is laughing – totally out of character for a Vulcan. When his friends ask him why he is laughing, he responds, “That creature is pure logic and reasoning. And he is asking one question: “Is This All That There Is?’”

The sad part of our personal stories is that the conscious reasoning and logical part of our brain, that we glorify and honor as the greatest part of us, has no ability to experience and be more than thought. It explains, analyzes, understands, questions, and “knows” – but it has no ability to experience love and Presence, closeness and meaning, precious moments and spiritual enlightenment.

The reasoning part of our brain is really a prison – with walls and walls of thought – contaminated by our unresolved pasts – destined to live and die alone and forgotten – in a seething sea of darkness.

With reasoning, we are told that we know and can know – and therefore we can understand – and therefore we can control the outcomes of our lives, if we try hard enough – and finally therefore we can make ourselves happy and serene.

These messages are not true. Reasoning is like a precocious and mentally alert child who cannot tie his own shoes, or feed himself. He is clever, and insightful, but one dimensional – linear in thought. His brain processes do not include the width and depth of emotion and intimate presence.

Because our reasoning brains tell us that we can know, we do not naturally seek the closeness and higher Presence of connection with others. And we become and are slaves to our brain’s perceptions and reactions. Reasoning hides our consciousness of our injuries and our illnesses, and so we do not seek the spiritual enlightenment of consistent reliance and dependence on God. We are forced to do whatever our brains tell us to do.

So how do we master Reasoning?

Actually we don’t. We can’t. That is the starting point. No amount of will can override my brains delusions. The beginning of mastery is to admit and experience that I cannot master and overcome my brain. Its programming does not allow me to have access and control.

From acceptance that we are powerless over our brains, and our perceptions and reactions have become unmanageable, we move to accessing spiritual resources that can change the imbalance of power. Daily inspirations, living in precious moments vs lifetimes, and spiritual Presence of our God, through others – bring the changes in neural brain functioning that produces spiritual enlightenment to replace mental intellect.

This acceptance and accessing of spiritual resources – precious moments and daily inspirations – leads to actively living in God’s Presence as acts of trust and intimacy. Our movement takes us beyond the walls of reasoning and thought into a world of light, love, serenity, and wondrous anticipation – what lies before us is infinitely possible, and exciting – when we are not alone.

We have begun to escape the past, and to live in the precious moments of spiritual enlightenment. We are abandoning our reasoning and rediscovering our truth – our true and loving selves.

Taking a Good Look -- Remembering to Live in Precious Moments

Every now and again, take a good look at something not made with hands – a mountain, a star, the turn of a stream.
There will come to you wisdom and patience and solace
and, above all, the assurance that you are not alone in the world.
Sidney Lovett

This inspirational life quote is a reminder of some simple truths of spiritual enlightenment. First, we need to stop-- ever so often – maybe, more often – and remember, that we have forgotten something. The material world screams at us in no uncertain terms to pay attention to its useless chatter and clatter. And our brains react with screaming fierceness – “we have to avoid the present moment – human consciousness is not acceptable.” Together the material world and our brains whip up storms of illusion and confusion that keeps us from remembering – to remember – to stop and experience and reside in just this precious moment.

Take a look – open the eyes of our hearts – take a good look – at something – experience fully our experience of who we are – in something we are not – in something that is not demanding our attention – but in something that carries the subtleness of life’s inexhaustible mystery – within each precious moment – within each atom of human and spiritual experience.

Nature – natural -- not made by man -- uniquely transcendent compared to all the illusions we can create – “what is man that thou art mindful of him” – touch the face of God in moments of Their handiwork – because there are gifts hidden in their simplicity.

Wisdom – spiritual enlightenment – where our brains begin to clear of the wreckages of our pasts – where a higher Presence begins to glow in the darkened synapses of our brain – clarity of experience and intimate Presence adjusts our perceptions and reactions – and we are free to be more wholly present – in life’s precious moments. Wisdom is where human experience and God’s Presence join to become consciousness and intimacy into being.

Patience involves the absence of obsession with material outcomes because we have the guarantee of God’s Presence that all is planned and prepared for our best. The neural energy of our brains diminishes and we are no longer driven to control what will not make us happy anyway. Holding their hands – we have no need to be responsible for our outcomes, only for our presence within Their Presence.

Solace – relief from pain and grief. “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted”. Their Presence comforts us. We are able to flow through our current and past pain and fear and sadness – and find rest. “Come unto me, all ye who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest.”

When I first began to experience rest, I experienced being a very young child, being held by a very attentive Parent and being gently rocked – safe, nurtured, and unconditionally loved and admired. The cares of my mind’s woundedness flowed out and away, and being replaced by a loving stillness – far beyond my brain’s capacity to create.

All of these gifts – nature, spiritual enlightenment, confidence and serenity, and restful spiritual healing – all these are part of the massive and emerging assurance – the personal experience that we are not ever alone – never abandoned or rejected, except by our own injured brains.

Gifts – from someone who likes us and loves us – without conditions or possibility of rejection – precious moments of God’s love becoming spiritual enlightenment.

No longer alone in our world.

Journey to the Heart of Presence -- Daily Inspirations in Precious Moments

It is good to have an end to journey towards;
but it is the journey that matters in the end.

Ursula LeGuin

What is the meaning of life? A seemingly absurd question considering no one really “knows” the answer. Perhaps the closest answer is the one given by Jack Palance as a rough and worn cowboy in the movie “City Slickers”. He said that the meaning of life is “one thing” – just one thing. Find one thing that means the most to you, and make that the center of your life. Focusing on too many things destroys the meaning of life.

In my experience, the meaning of life is “Presence in the Present”. To experience God – our higher Presence – in this precious moment of time – the Present – that is the truest “meaning of life”. To feel and be totally human and conscious, and consciously connected to God – in this exact moment – gives a dimension to life that overwhelmingly amazing and freeing.

It’s ok to have goals and plans – except when they take us out of our precious moments and into the terrorfying future. We are – each moment – in a sparkle of meaning and love – when we are Present in Presence within our journey.

In math, a line between two points is composed of an infinite number of points. When we are present in this moment, we are approaching an eternity of beingness – the ultimate intimacy and closeness with God, ourselves and others.

So how do we live in the journey and not in the deception of the destination?

It’s impossible for me to do that. This is my starting point. My brain does not operate in present moments. It is always miles of ahead of where I am.
And I cannot stop this.

Second, for me, only inserting the higher Presence of my God into the present can stop my brain at this precious moment. Inspirational life quotes, inspirational readings, music, journaling, and the voice of God in others’ lips – all of these are means of increasing my conscious connection to my God – the meaning of life.

Third, for me, is to take action – do something – act as if God is taking me into this moment – act as if I am loved, safe, and guided. Many times it is as simple as taking the next breath, and taking the next step – being present in each motion forward as an expression of my trust in Their loving Presence and intent.

We have all been given a journey – an infinite number of precious moments -- opportunities for intimacy and meaning with our God. Let us breathe -- touch the hand of our higher Presence -- and step deeply into each precious moment -- our journey to the heart of Presence.
